Fort Funston with Holly

Meet Holly. She is my new doxie friend and is only just a pup. We met-up at Fort Funston awhile back for an afternoon of fun. She kind of looks like me (except I'm way prettier).

I had a lot of fun digging in the sand. And I found the most perfect spot to dig!

I'm an expert root-remover. I guess I could teach Holly a few tricks.

And of course, Margot came along too.

Margot... What are you eating?

Margot, don't eat that!

Ugh, Margot... You ate it...

We had a fun time at Fort Funston. I don't know if you've heard, but the GGNRA is trying to stop us from being able to have off-leash fun there and other parks in California. Read more about this at Eco-Dog.

Holly is actually kind of scared of me. I think it's because she's intimidated by my stunning beauty and grace. Hopefully she will be more comfortable around me the next time we meet and have more fun.

Franny

Sunny Florida - Part II

Back home in Northern California, whenever we go to the beach, we are really visiting the "Pacific Ocean". The "Pacific Ocean" water is super salty and murky and green or sometimes brown... It's actually kind of dirty and I always have fun running away from the waves. Where Pony lives in Florida, the beaches are part of something called the "Atlantic Ocean". I've heard it's big and scary, but the water was clean and clear and the day was nice and hot.

Hello, Atlantic Ocean!

It didn't seem too bad but I decided to keep my distance...

That is, until Nina scooped me up and decided she'd give me an impromtu swimming lesson!

These legs were not made for swimming!

I guess only responsible Dachshund owners buy their doxies life vests for swimming.

They let me go and I flipped over like a hot dog in water! What did they expect? This is me being plucked from the water after my body capsized.

Ahh, much better...

I decided I'd admire the ocean from a safe distance... And run away from Nina if she came anywhere near me.

I wonder if there are any gophers in Florida...

Florida, you're not so bad. I think I like you very much.

Santa Cruz

Once upon a time (about TWO weeks ago, to be exact. Right, Nina?)... We all drove down to Santa Cruz for a day of good ole fun in the sun.

There was a lot of seaweed. And there were so many unsuspecting people laying out on their towels, sunbathing. Little did they know that their cancer-soaking activity would be disturbed by dachshund kisses. And little did I know that they wouldn't be very happy about it. At all.

Margot and I had so much fun chasing each other down the beach. Margot is trying to run away from me here, but I'm way too fast. I strategically chomped down on her ear to slow her down. If there was audio, Margot would be screaming. And if this photo was a wide shot, you'd see people staring. HEEHEEHEE.

Margot attempts to surprise-attack me from behind the heap of seaweed! Too bad her pea-brain could never outwit my superior walnut-brain!

Margot cools down while I investigate the strange smells coming from that weird, green thingy.

Okay, I think there are squirrels up there. If I could just climb up...

Sometimes I despise my short legs and long body.

So much for climbing. Now its time to wander off.
Do I hear Nina calling my name? Me thinks not.

Ellie looks crazy. Maybe that's because she is, looney tunes.

Ellie is pooped from fetching her ball all day.

The End.
Nina made a sand dog. Can you see his rump?

till next time,

Crissy Field

The weather has been nice which means... Field Trip! Crissy Field Trip, to be exact.

Look at me fly!

Action shot.

A nice walk on the beach...

View of the bay. Can you see Alcatraz? What about the blimp?

Bet you didn't know I fetch sticks!

Margot likes to dig, dig, dig.

I hope everyone else is enjoying the outdoors!

Love,
Franny

On the Seaside

California blessed us with beautiful weather over the Thanksgiving weekend. Nina could not think of a better place to go than the very dog-friendly Fort Funston in San Francisco. As you already know, we go there every chance we get!

Sometimes I'm too shy to make new friends.

Other times, I'm a little TOO friendly.

What was that?!

Looks like a long way down.

Margot and I are Mountain Doxies, native to the sand dunes of California. We spend our days grazing the seaside in the warm sun.

Hey, look over there...

... someone is dimming the lights! It's almost time to go home!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

LA Adventure

Unfortunately, Nina forgot her camera on several occasions. Please blame her for the lack of photographic documentation of our travels and adventures in Los Angeles. The only time Nina did remember to bring her photo-box, was when we spent the day in Santa Monica. We walked down the Third Street Promenade and drove up the Pacific Coast Highway, through Santa Monica and up towards Malibu. The weather was beautiful. It's just too bad dogs aren't allowed on most beaches.

So pretty!

Is this supposed to be my close-up?

Margot rides safely in a crate while I get to sit in Nina's lap in the front seat!

PCH.

Some pretty houses on the hill.

It's hot and sunny in Los Angeles.

Franny
