After the Storm

It stopped raining!!! Yippee!

There's nothing better than digging after a week of rain.

The lawn needs more holes.

After the storm and after the digging, there's always a bath...

Raining Cats and Dogs

I know winter has officially come when it starts to rain and the temperature drops. It just started raining today which means I'll be spending most of my time indoors. I know many of you are experiencing colder temperatures, but I'm freezing in 45 degree weather!

It's raining
It's pouring
Being inside is BORING

Dark and gloomy skies mark the beginning of winter.

Lately I've been spending most of time next to this thing.

Does it look familiar? Warm air blows out of it and I think I'm in love!

Because the metal gets hot, Nina thought it'd be a good idea to put a towel over it. It has now become my new bed. I guess it's the equivalent to basking in the sun, only indoors.

I'm never leaving this spot. Time for a nap.

Dreaming of warmer days,
Franny

Lookin' Soxy

I picked these socks out at the Pet Expo a few months ago. It's finally the right time to wear them!

You'd think they would be uncomfortable, but they're actually quite nice.

I hope you're keeping your paws nice and warm in the cold weather.

Love,
Franny

Kate Spade or Spayed?

This week we went to the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto to do some Christmas shopping. We stopped by the Kate Spade Store and came across another dachshund -- one that Nina can wear around her neck!

She couldn't resist getting this adorable dachshund scarf.

It makes a great pillow!

Of course, I just had to get something from Kate Spayed too!

How do you like my new designer purse?

This is my "sexy" model pose, which is also what I look like right before I fall asleep from being bored.

On the Seaside

California blessed us with beautiful weather over the Thanksgiving weekend. Nina could not think of a better place to go than the very dog-friendly Fort Funston in San Francisco. As you already know, we go there every chance we get!

Sometimes I'm too shy to make new friends.

Other times, I'm a little TOO friendly.

What was that?!

Looks like a long way down.

Margot and I are Mountain Doxies, native to the sand dunes of California. We spend our days grazing the seaside in the warm sun.

Hey, look over there...

... someone is dimming the lights! It's almost time to go home!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Babysitting Maximus

Do you remember little Maximus, one of my work buddies? Well, I get to babysit him for a few days! His Mommy is taking a little vacation and he is staying with us.

We don't want to sit pretty for a picture. We want to play!

Franny: Max, you smell nice.
Max: Thanks, Fran.

I think Max likes our lawn...

...a lot.

Time to frolic!

See ya later,
Franny

Bored and Boarding

Sorry I've been gone for so long! I stayed at the Vet's while Nina went off to NYC for a week. It's been pretty boring and the only interesting thing I could have updated you on was my noisy neighbor in the kennels. Nina has been so busy that she says she hasn't had time to help me update my blog... but not for long! I promise that this blog will be updated weekly at the least!

Thanks to all my friends for continuing to read and leave comments!

Boring.

Am I being punished for something?

At least there's plenty of food and water!

Home, sweet home at last!

On the Job

Because I spend most of my time at work, I thought I'd at least show you what I do every day and introduce you to some of my co-workers and new friends.

This is me during a typical day at work. I wear my parka in the mornings when it's especially chilly. Don't mind the bored look on my face. I'm just grumpy. As you know already, I hate waking up early!

This is Max! He's a teeny-tiny Yorkie who spends most of his day on top of the desk.

Here's Margot (and Max in the background). She tends to aimlessly wander the halls instead of staying put. This is why she's in a play pen. She's trying to make it look like she's a prisoner, but we're no fools for puppy-dog eyes!

Veda is the gentlest German Shepherd. I harass her a lot when she comes around during lunch time. Did I mention she's scared of ME?

I'm a little scared of her too...

Then there are the three house cats: Super Cat, Charlie, and Jamba. I normally love cats but these guys really freak me out. My nickname around them is "Ridgeback" because the hairs down my spine stick up. You have to admit, they look pretty scary.

I can't forget Toby! He's always snoozing in his cow-print chair. Yes, he has his OWN chair.

I hope you enjoyed meeting my friends!

'till next time,
Franny

Pretty in Pink

Hello everyone! Sorry I've been gone for so long. I've been busy going to work with Nina everyday. I'm her office assistant and it's tough work. Although I'm napping for most of the day, I would appreciate if she did something nice for me. So on Friday, I got a little surprise present.

A new collar! Pink, of course.

It's from Hamish McBeth.

Do you recognize the bed?

The flowers are the best part. Don't I look pretty in pink?

I'll try to update more often!

Hugs,
Franny

I'm Not an Early Bird

... I'm a dachshund! Every morning Nina's alarm goes off and she starts to get ready for work. She doesn't wake up bright and early, she wakes up even earlier, when it's still dark outside! In my book, that's way too early. Doesn't she know that I need my beauty sleep? I stay in bed for as long as possible. I make Nina get me out of bed herself and carry me to the car.

Do I look like I'm ready to wake-up? Now turn off that light.

Okay, okay. Five more minutes...

Dozing off,
Franny

Pet Expo

Today was the last day of the San Mateo Pet Expo. Nina and I had a lovely time browsing the different booths and making new friends. We did quite a bit of shopping which I'll blog about in another entry. We watched a police dog demonstration, met Gibson, the world's tallest dog, and even saw a performance from Chalcy, the superstar dog.

Chalcy, the dog superstar, and his baby sister.

This guy needs a home...

I wish we could play.

I always wanted a kitty sibling. Someday, in the future...

Nice to meet you.

Hello.

So, what's new?

You sure are fluffy.

Gibson, the world's tallest dog! I saw him on Oprah!

Nice booth you got here.

What are you?

You smell delicious.

Let me in!!!

Am I allowed to go potty in here???

The nice lady at the Planet Blue Dog booth gave me some yummy treats! She was so nice!

Nina bought me the cute squirrel toy from Planet Blue Dog. It's a rope chew toy that you soak in chicken broth and then freeze. It's a great frozen chew treat for your dog! I'll blog about this cool toy soon.

Doxie pins! Not really our style, but still, very cool! Nina may not like these pins, but it does not mean she's not into tacky dachshund collectibles - she's obsessed.

This cute yellow lab was being very patient while her owner shopped at one of the booths.

Hello, my fellow dachshund!

Well, I guess that's all from the the Pet Expo. Just so you know, there are pet expos going on everywhere. Everyone should go to one because they're so much fun!

Woof,
Franny
