Dachshund Biscuits

Nina made these very tasty treats for the dachshund meet-up this past weekend. I could eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Here's the recipe:

2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 large egg
3/4 - 1 cup low sodium beef stock
1 cup of corn meal for rolling out treats

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
2. Mix the flour, cheese, egg, and 3/4 cup of beef stock together until it forms a dough. Add the remaining 1/4 cup of beef stock if the dough is too dry.
3. Sprinkle cornmeal on bread board and roll out dough to 1/4 inch thick.
4. Use cookie cutter to cut out shapes.
5. Place on greased cookie sheet or parchment lined sheet.
6. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until the bottoms are golden brown.

The dachshund and bone shaped cookie cutters were purchased from Sur La Table.

Doxie Play Date

Today we went to a dachshund meet-up at the Heather Farm small dog park. I had a lot of fun and made a lot of new friends. Here are some pictures Nina took of all the beautiful dachshunds we met...

I'm a little disappointed that Nina took so many pictures of other dachshunds and only ONE of me.

Red Mango

We spent the afternoon in downtown Palo Alto on University Ave.

We stopped to get a treat at Red Mango, a frozen yogurt shop. I wish I could eat it all...

I'm just dying to have some!

Yummy banana!

Still chewing.

Nina always lets me have the yogurt soup at the end.

Doxie Derby

Today was the annual Highway Wiener Races aka the Dachshund Derby in Palo Alto. I was registered to race but couldn't because we got to the races an hour late. Nina realized she forgot her wallet when we got to the bridge to cross over to the peninsula. We had to go back home and get it, then get gas because the tank was nearly empty. I'm not too disappointed because there's always next year.

Doxies on your mark.

Get set.

Go!

Run!!!

This guy looks lost.

He decided to run towards the sideline where I was sitting. I think he likes me!

Another heat with faster, more determined dachshund racers. Look at them fly!

Well, not this guy.

He's not having it.

Here I am saying hello to my fellow dachshunds.

Smiling dachshunds everywhere.

And it's HOT.

Kisses from a new friend!

I think she's ready to go home.

Pens and Pencils

I have a history of pen chewing. It's a bad habit I really need to kick. Nina has provided me with many chewing alternatives, like a nice selection of flavorful Nylabones and toys. To my dismay, she rarely gives me bully sticks and hooves. She says I finish the bully sticks too quickly and that the hooves are stinky and gross, especially when I hide them under her pillows and under the covers. Anyway, I just enjoy chewing!

I didn't do it!!! Err... maybe I did.

The stains on my ear? They're not stains from the pen I chewed, they're.... they're... my new tattoos!

Do you like my new tattoos of amoebas? Aren't they lovely?

Maybe if Nina stopped using pens and pencils, we wouldn't be in this predicament...

Yours truly,
Franny

Dachshund's Nest

I made a little nest for myself - a very cozy nest.

It looks like a pillow, but it's really a nest... MY nest.
